Jordan's agricultural exports rise by 15 percent in 2014


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Jordanian food and agricultural exports rose by 15 percent in 2014 to JD1.1 billion, compared to JD981 million in 2013.

Further, Agriculture Minister Akef Al Zu'b said in a press statement on Saturday that the Kingdom's vegetable and fruit exports rose from JD471 million in 2013 to JD531 million in 2014, an increase of 13 percent.

Vegetable and fruit accounted for 47 percent of all agricultural exports.

Further, the minister said food and agricultural exports represented 22 percent of the nation's total exports in 2014, compared to 20.4 percent in 2013.

"Exports of vegetables and fruits last year rose to 888,000 tons with a value of JD531 million, an increase of 12 percent compared to 2013," the minister added.
