Jordan condemns burning of church in Jerusalem by Jewish extremists


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman Feb. 26 (Petra)Minister of State for Media Affairs Mohammad Al Momani Thursday condemned the burning of a church by Jewish extremists in occupied Jerusalem earlier today. The government spokesman said that the act of burning the church and writing anti-Jesus Christ and Christianity slogans on its walls by the extremists are rejected and condemned criminal acts as per religious and international laws. He stressed that the custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy places in Jerusalem is a Jordanian Hashemite priority adding that Jordan will not hesitate to make every effort to defend these places. Momani held the Israeli government as an occupying power responsible for any violations against Islamic and Christian holy places. He called upon the international community and the United Nations bodies to exercise more pressure on Israel to cease all such violations. //Petra// AF
