Pertamina Plan To Build A New Refinery This Year

DENPASAR February 13 2015— PT Pertamina (Persero) targets to conduct the ground breaking for at least one new refinery this year.

President Director of Pertamina Dwi Soetjipto said that the eastern Indonesia such as Balikpapan and Bontang can be main alternatives to be considered as the location for the new refinery.

“But we will also see the other. Eastern Indonesia can be a big portion. We hope it can be started this year even though it’s just for one. Within the next five years it’s expected to build 2-3 refineries in addition to upgrade the existing” he said Friday (2/13/2015)

He explained that the establishment of the new oil refinery would be helpful for the future energy sufficiency because 60% of fuel supply is still imported. Besides the latest refinery was built in 1993.

He hopes that the land will be used to establish the refinery will be used that owned by Pertamina. “To build the new refinery we will work together with other parties because the investment is quite big.” Read more...
