Trivandrum: A businessman who caused a furor two years ago by letting his nine year-old son to drive his Ferrari was arrested by the police in Kerala on Thursday for attempting to kill a security guard at a posh residential complex at Trichur.

The guard who has been identified as Chandra Bose from Kandassankadavu village in the district is battling for his life at a hospital in Trichur town. Hospital authorities said that he was now on ventilator support.

The angry businessman crushed the guard between his luxury car and a wall causing him grave injury in his backbone.

Later he took him in his car to the parking area and beaten him up with iron rods. He stopped the assault only after other workers in the complex came to the rescue of the guard. Trichur district police chief termed the assault heinous.

He told reporters that he had directed the concerned police station to register the case under strong sections including Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA) which is usually invoked against hoodlums.
