Int'l Tourism Festival starts in Madrid with participation of Kuwait


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The 35th session of the International Tourism Festival kicked of here on Wednesday with the participation of 165 countries, including Kuwait.

The festival, which runs until February 1st and was inaugurated by King of Spain Felipe VI and his wife Queen Letizia, is considered one of the most significant international events in the field of tourism.

In a statement to KUNA on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the festival, Kuwaiti Ambassador to Spain Dr. Sulaiman Al-Harbi stressed that Kuwait's Tourism Sector in the Ministry of Trade and Industry is keen on promoting the country's tourism and showing its cultural and tourist lanmarks. "Kuwait has become a distinguished tourist destination due to its natural and heritage sites," Ambassador Al-Harbi said, adding the country exerts continuous efforts to support and upgrade this sector.

Kuwait hosted the First Constituent Meeting of the GCC Tourism Ministers, he stated, noting this reflects the country's keenness on reactivating tourism and encouraging investments.

The Ambassador said that Kuwait's efforts in this regard goes in harmony with the country's foreign policy and comes in the framework of the eagerness of the political leadership to promote communications with other cultures across the globe.

He said Kuwait is participating in the festival for the sixth year in a row with a distinguished pavilion that displays different kinds of national products.
