Elderly Pedestrians Struck and Killed

(MENAFNEditorial)

In South Florida an elderly couple were recently hit by a passing vehicle on Ocean Boulevard as they were crossing the street together.

The accident happened around 7pm on the evening of December 18th. The two had just moved to the area the day before their accident and tragically both were killed from the impact.

The first victim was identified as an 80 year old female by the first name of Francine. She was killed at the scene of the accident. Her partner was 85 years of age and was known in the past as a successful entrepreneur who held executive positions with Packard Press and the Federal Enforcement Homeland Security Foundation among other companies.

According to the Broward County Sherriff’s Office one of the street lights near where the accident occurred was not in working order which may have caused the driver to not see the couple as they crossed in front of him.

Of the four thousand-plus pedestrians that are killed every year in America there are more elderly victims than any other age group. Although a downward trend of elderly pedestrian injuries has been noticed in the Miami area it is still an issue not to be brushed aside. Surviving victims of these accidents should contact a Miami personal injury lawyer and the law office of Carlos Verdecia is available to help.
