Saudi- Filipino wins in photo expo
(MENAFN- Arab News) One of the highlights of this year's 'Colors of Saudi Arabia Forum 2014' an annual exhibition held in Riyadh to showcase the Kingdom's heritage was the award given to a Filipino national Herbert Bagolbagol in the smartphone category. The Filipino worker won the first prize in the smartphone photography category.
The expo drew large crowds this year with visits from various members of different diplomatic missions. Foreign Minister Saud Al-Faisal was seen taking a tour of the expo with Prince Sultan bin Salman president of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities.
According to the Philippine Embassy Bagolbagol is the only Filipino who participated in the competition along with other Saudis and expatriates from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
His prize-winning entry 'Clay Tower Old Village of Rawda Sudair' focuses on the Kingdom's cultural heritage. The picture was taken in June this year during one of his trips to Najd in the central part of the Kingdom.
The 'Colors of Saudi Arabia Forum' is an annual event organized by the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities under the aegis of Prince Sultan. It is billed as one of the major events in Saudi Arabia for photography and short films in the categories of tourism culture and heritage.
Congratulating the prize winners the embassy invited Filipino nationals in the Kingdom for a look at the colorful landscape of Saudi Arabia as seen through the lens of Saudi GCC and Filipino photographers during the event.
The throngs of people who have been visiting the expo for the last two days have prompted authorities to make arrangements to deal with large groups of visitors. According to a report for the past two days large groups of teenagers have been trying to get into the exhibition premises that
could not accommodate such numbers.
