Qatar- Diabetes centre opens at Al Wakra Hospital


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) A new National Diabetes Centre with improved specialised care has been inaugurated at Al Wakra Hospital to reduce the waitlist at Hamad General Hospital (HGH).

The centre on the ground floor of the Outpatient Department is providing diabetics in Al Wakra and the southern region with improved access to specialised care. It was inaugurated by the Minister of Public Health

H E Abdullah bin Khalid Al Qahtani and Dr Hanan Al Kuwari, Managing Director, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC).

Over 750 patients have been treated at the centre since it began receiving cases in October.

About 800 patient visits per month are expected at the facility which modelled on National Diabetes Centre at HGH.

Treating diabetics during morning and afternoon clinics, the centre uses a multi-disciplinary approach in caring for patients and is providing services, including foot care, counselling and education, blood investigation and insulin pump therapy.
