(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The US condemned the assassination of the Secretary General of the Union of Popular Forces Dr. Mohammad Abdulmalek Al-Mutawakel in Yemen and urged the Yemeni government to conduct a full investigation to find who is responsible for the crime.
"Yemen's challenges, particularly now, require moderate voices and a commitment to the rapid and peaceful resolution of differences," said State Department Spokesperson Jen Psaki to reporters Monday. "Indeed, the challenges facing Yemen today can only be resolved through political dialogue." The US reiterated that it remains committed to supporting the Yemeni people in their "historic transition" and called upon the parties to work together "for the good of Yemen."
