OIC Secretary General Welcomes Swedish Recognition of Palestine

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Jeddah October 30 (QNA) - Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Madani has welcomed Sweden's decision to recognize the State of Palestine Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

He considered this as an important step towards enabling the Palestinian people to regain their legitimate and inalienable national rights.

Madani stressed that this decision is a strong message of support from the Swedish government to the rights of the Palestinian people.

He added that the decision is consistent with international law and the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy notably the United Nations General Assembly resolution on November 29 2012 recognizing the State of Palestine. (QNA)
