Pres. Abbas demands UNSC session on Israeli violations in Jerusalem

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Monday asked the UN Security Council to convene an emergency session to debate the repeated Israeli violations in the occupied city of Jerusalem including the Jewish settlers' incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The President urges the UNSC to force the Israeli occupation authorities to halt their serious practices and tampering with the Islamic sanctities in the city particularly Al-Aqsa Mosque, Palestine News Agency (WAFA) quoted presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudaina as saying.

"We ask the UNSC to take an immediate action in order to stop the new plans for Jewish settlement expansion, recently adopted by the Israeli government," he said.

Abu Rudaina warned that the settlement expansions risk undermine the entire peace process.
