(MENAFN - QNA) Commander of popular committees in the Yemeni city of Lahj and a number of his aides were killed in an armed attack by unidentified militants.
Local sources in Yemen said unidentified assailants waged an RPG attack on a vehicle carrying the commander of popular committees in Lahj governorate Sheikh Saleh Haboub Al-Ba'ssassi Al-Subeihi and three of his aid killing them on the spot.
The sources added that bodies of the assassinated men had been completely charred after fire gutted their vehicle, saying Al-Subeihi was most likely targeted because of his leadership of popular committee fighting Al-Qaeda organization in Al-Anad where Yemen's largest military base in located.
