Kuwait Olympic cmte keen on having women presence in Asiad


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait Olympic Committee Spokesman and Secretary Obaid-Al-Enzi said on Monday that the committee, headed by Sheikh Dr. Talal Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, is keen to support the presence of Kuwaiti women athlete in international sport events, including the Asian Games, or Asiad.

Asiad is scheduled to be hosted by the city of Incheon, South Korea on September 19.

In an interview with KUNA, Al-Enzi praised the role and efforts exerted by the Chairwoman of Kuwait Women Sports Federation Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and her keenness to choose the best women athletes for upcoming tournaments.

The Secretary added that participation of women in Asiad will be represented in three different games with three separate delegations; table tennis, taekwondo and bowling.

Al-Enezi noted that female sport figures had previously participated in international competitions, hoping to further their presence in the future as well.

He added that women's participation at this time comes as an opportunity to evaluate their performance on the ground.

Asiad is a Pan-continental multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from all over Asia.
