DM to demolish seven abandoned Dubai buildings


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The seven abandoned or neglected buildings are located in al batteen al hamriya naif al sabkha al raffa and al ras.

to keep the city beautiful as well as ensure public health and safety the dubai municipality has been cracking down on abandoned buildings. as part of the drive it has issued an ultimatum to the owners of seven abandoned buildings asking them to demolish the buildings within a given time.

the owners have to demolish these buildings details of which including photos were published in leading arabic newspapers and report to the municipality within one week from the date of notification.

the seven abandoned or neglected buildings are located in al batteen al hamriya naif al sabkha al raffa and al ras.

if the owners fail to respond within the deadline the civic body will do the work and charge the owners the cost besides 20 per cent more as administration charges.

the civic body said most of the abandoned buildings are becoming infested with insects and other creatures that pose a risk to public health.

“half-constructed and then abandoned buildings pose a threat to the safety of public” a statement by the municipality said.

“also in some instances 
such buildings were found being used by people for illegal activities and serving as a safe haven for anti-social elements.” building owners can contact the municipality at 800900 for further information.
