(MENAFN- Arab Times) Kuwait april 10 (agencies): officials of the ministries of interior and foreign affairs on thursday discussed implementation of a decision by the minister of interior to empower kuwaiti diplomatic missions abroad issue visas to visit kuwait according to specific procedures.
the officials who examined sheikh mohammad al-khaled al- sabah's resolution discussed terms rules and required documents for implementing the above-mentioned decision in coordination with the ministry of foreign affairs and the directorate general of immigration and passports.
the meeting according to a statement by the ministry of interior grouped interior assistant undersecretary for citizenship affairs and passports sheikh faisal nawaf al-ahmad al-sabah officials representing the foreign ministry and the dgip. maj gen faisal al-nawaf explained to the foreign ministry officials objectives and dimensions of the resolution basically designed to facilitate visits to kuwait by tourists businessmen and sparing them time and energy wasting for entry procedures.
brigadier adnan al-kanderi the dgip director general shed light during the meeting on benefits of the resolution designed to deal with emergency necessary situations boost businesses and tourism. the foreign ministry officials for their part pondered some procedural and legal aspects of the issue. regular meetings will be held between the two ministries for further coordination.
meanwhile member of the municipal council ali al-moussa was recently quoted as saying it is necessary to facilitate the issuance of tourist visas in order to activate the tourism sector in kuwait reports al-rai daily. he said after the implementation of tourism projects the main problem the country will face will be the issue of visas. he added another main obstacle obstructing and delaying the implementation of these projects are the bureaucracy and other obstacles in kuwait municipality in addition to 'tourism licenses' which some companies have lost after the iraqi invasion of the country.
