Sharjah Looks to Expand Its Presence in Saudi Market as It Heads to 6th Riyadh Travel Fair


(MENAFNEditorial) Sharjah is looking forward to expanding its presence in the Saudi tourism market as it heads to the sixth edition of the Riyadh Travel Fair, taking place at Hotel Four Seasons in the Saudi capital from April 15-18. Around 3,500 exhibitors, delegates and trade visitors from across the region and around the world, representing governments and leaders of the tourism and hospitality industry are taking part in the Riyadh Travel Fair this year. Headed by Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, the Sharjah delegation includes representatives of Hilton Sharjah, Air Arabia, Cozmo Travel and Camel Campus etc. Speaking on the occasion, HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Director General, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority said that the Riyadh Travel Fair offers a great opportunity and platform to promote all aspects of Sharjah's tourism experience and the latest developments in the sector in the important Saudi market which brings together more than 3,500 exhibitors from across the Gulf and from around the world. Underscoring the strategic significance of Saudi market for Sharjah, Al Midfa said that the SCTDA has been pursuing to target tourists from various countries in the Gulf in general and Saudi market in particular, which is the largest in the region. The Emirate received more than 192,366 Saudi tourists in 2013, pointed out Al Midfa. Describing Sharjah as a special tourism destination for Saudi and Gulf tourists offering incredible diversity and world-class services, Al Midfa said the Saudis and tourists from other Gulf states found truly at home in Sharjah which offers an endless array of options in leisure, shopping and wholesome family fun throughout the year. Sharjah offers a perfect family destination for the GCC tourists with common traditions, culture and lifestyle in a modern setting and with world-class amenities. The exclusive Sharjah stand at the Riyadh Travel Fair will highlight the best of Sharjah's tourism experience and attractions besides numerous international cultural and family festivals and special events and activities hosted throughout the year. One of the highlights this year are the spectacular celebrations of the Sharjah the Islamic Culture Capital for 2014. Brochures and leaflets and other promotional literature about Sharjah will be available in Arabic and English at the stand. The Sharjah delegation to the 6th Riyadh Travel Fair is looking to expand avenues of cooperation with a number of Gulf and regional destinations besides an exchange of experiences and expertise with leading tourism and economic players in the region. The Riyadh Travel Fair has emerged as one of the key events of the travel and tourism industry in the region, registering an 8 per cent increase in the number of exhibitors this year. The Riyadh exhibition is expected to receive more than 20,000 visitors.
