Taliban Militants Killed Three Teachers And Abducted Another


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) About three teachers were killed by Taliban militants who also abducted another one in western Afghanistan, an official sai here Sunday.



'The teachers were on the way home in Taywara district late Saturday after attending a seminar in the provincial capital Cheghcheran,' said Abdul Hai Khatibi, governor spokesman for Ghor province. 'They were caught by Taliban insurgents who were likely waiting for them in Shahrak district,' Khatibi sai

A statement from the Helmand provincial governor's office issued Sunday says the deadliest blast ripped through one of two cars traveling the day before between the Musa Qala and Nawzad district



The governor's office said seven civilians were killed, including three women and two children, and eight other people were wounde



It said that two other civilians were killed Saturday in a bombing in the Kajaki district, providing no other details. Insurgents also attacked a checkpoint elsewhere in the district, killing an Afghan policema



The statement says 'Taliban militants regularly plant roadside bombs to target Afghan and NATO forces, but the devices often kill Afghan civilians.' It added that Afghan security forces also killed 13 Taliban insurgents in Helmand's Gereshk district.



Earlier Saturday, at least seven security men including four Afghan National Army (ANA) personnel and two policemen were killed when a booby-trapped bomb they were attempting to defuse exploded in eastern Laghman province, said officials.
