Kuwait- Most Asians found obeying the traffic laws


(MENAFN- Arab Times) The General Traffic Department (GTD) is tightening the noose against people who do not respect the traffic laws and on the first day of the strict implementation of the laws, the GTD is said to have issued 59,000 traffic citations against persons not wearing the seat belts and using the cell phone while driving during a fourhour campaign, reports Al-Qabas daily.



The security authorities say most motorists disregard warnings which have been issued through media campaigns. Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major- General Abdel Fattah Al-Ali said that 73 percent of the fatal accidents are caused by motorists because they use cell phones while driving. He also disclosed 93 percent of the motorists do not wear the seal belts while driving. He said, the GTD personnel discovered only 40 percent of the motorists were committed to the law.



Surprisingly, he said, most of the motorists found obeying the traffic laws during the campaign were Asians, followed by Arab expatriates and then the citizens. He also said violations among women motorists have reduce
