(MENAFN - Arab News) The second phase of elections for the 16th board of directors of Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) kicked off Monday at Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center (RICEC).

The voting process will continue until today. The first phase of the elections was launched last Saturday and Sunday which was organized in different provinces of Riyadh Region.

Meanwhile, the e-voting system decreased the voting time to less than five minutes compared to one honor in the first phase of elections when the center was shifted from the RCCI to well-equipped RICEC.

The voting monitors (screens) have been linked up with the RCCI electronic circuit and commercial registration system of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry which allows for checking data and identity of voters. The hall has been divided into sections to easily serve the electoral committee, candidates and voters.

Commenting on the voting process, one of the voters said the arrangement was extremely well that has allowed voters to move smoothly within the voting halls. Others said e-voting system facilitated the voting process and expressed hope candidates will respect promises they have made before the voting.

Meanwhile, RCCI elections for Saudi businesswomen were closed last Sunday and Monday. RICEC was also the venture for those elections.
On the other hand, voters came earlier to the venture of elections as the candidates remained in the platforms allocated for them to familiarize voters with their electoral programs. The candidates were allowed to distribute brochures displaying their visions and the role they could play in serving the business sector.

The polling centers witnessed extensive turnout of the RCCI members whereas voters and candidates exchanged discussions on business issues and the role of chambers of commerce in boosting economic development in the country.
