(MENAFN Press) Pink Caravan (PC) higher organizing committee have announced that the number of volunteers has exceeded 118 people. The volunteers hail from various community sectors and are dedicated to promoting the culture of voluntary work among all UAE community members.
The volunteers come from different background including doctors, university and school students, and government and private sector employees, as well as media professionals, artists, and sportsmen.

Pink Caravan's organisers commented on the increase in the number of PC volunteers came as a result of the tremendous effort of the existing volunteers as well as the admirable friendly competition between men and women to take part in voluntary work.

The volunteers' role in the Pink Caravan's nationwide cancer awareness campaign is clearly manifested in promoting the campaign and identifying its role and noble goals to the public.

They also help in promoting awareness services carried out by the PC with the help of various organisation committees, such as the Awareness and Medical Committee, Events Committee, Riders Committee, and the Logistic Committee.

The volunteers also provide the assistance required for the Pink Caravan's headquarter which is located at the offices of Friends of Cancer Patients, an affiliate of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah.

The volunteers of various qualifications assist the Pink Caravan's committees as per their requirements.

Speaking on the occasion, H.E Ameera BinKaram, Founding Member and President of Friends of Cancer Patients, said: "The campaign's main theme is no longer just an awareness program but has become a noble message adopted by many people, minors and adults, employees and employers, men and women “ a message that goes beyond the emirate of Sharjah to all the country's Emirates “ to work together, fight this disease, and help cancer patients."

BinKaram added that while they were quite confident that no one expected a word of thanks, but Pink Caravan thanks all those who contributed to helping the campaign, which was launched to the service of the people.

The Pink Caravan is working to spread awareness about breast cancer and encourage scientific research in cooperation with the UAE Genetic Diseases Association in the field of genetic diseases-related research and its relation to breast cancer.

It is also working to establish a cancer registry in the UAE, because of its extreme importance in providing figures and statistics on cancer patients in all the country's Emirates.

The Pink Caravan conveys a humanitarian message focused on providing outstanding medical and health services to the community, with the participation of all interested and concerned people through their efforts and donations.
