(MENAFN - Jordan Times) Police in Maan are investigating the death of a 58-year-old man whose decomposing body was found in a deserted area in Maan Governorate on Friday.
A passer-by found a decomposed body in the Eil area and immediately alerted the authorities, Public Security Department (PSD) Spokesperson Lt. Col. Mohammad Khatib said.
"After coroners examined the body and other evidence, police concluded that the body was that of a man who was reported missing by his son over five days ago," Khatib added.
Coroners estimated that the victim had been dead for at least five days, a second official told The Jordan Times.
They also found bullet traces in his body, which indicates "that he was most probably shot and killed", the official said, adding that the body was sent to the National Institute of Forensic medicine for an official autopsy.
"Hopefully the autopsy will give us a better idea of how the victim was killed and this will help us with our investigation," the official noted.
"It was also evident to the investigators and coroners that the victim was murdered in a different location and his body was dumped in a deserted area to conceal the murder," Khatib told The Jordan Times.
