(MENAFN - Arab News) Saudi equities sustained its upward march yesterday and closed the day with impressive gains.
The Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) extended 1.39 percent gain further on the first trading day of the week. The index continued pacing its way higher throughout the day to close in the green territory at 7,618.07, achieving 104.22 points for the session.
All market cap indices traded in the positive zone.
Sectoral performance was tremendous, as all sectors closed in green and accumulated an aggregate of over 1,400 points.
Positive performance was boosted by Retail sector, surged 3.3 percent to close at 7,524.13. It was followed by Building & Construction, up 2.67 percent.
Only Transport sector spent most of the session in the red territory but it also finished the day in green, adding 20.5 points or 0.48 percent.
Large market cap companies also ended the day in green, with Saudi Telecom Co. and Saudi Electricity Co. surged 3.1 percent and 2.6 percent respectively.
Market breadth was largely positive, whereby 123 symbols closed in green and 22 closed in red, while 3 remained unchanged.
Insurance stocks led the top gainer and loser charts at Tadawul, with Walaa Insurance traded in the green zone for the third consecutive day, rose 9.92 percent to close at SR.27.7.
On the other hand, Tawuniya was the biggest loser of the day, down by 3.67 percent.
