(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait's trade balance in the fourth quarter of 2011 showed a surplus of KD 5.755 billion, according to an economic report issued here on Saturday.
The value of commodity exports in the period in question amounted to KD 7.
724 billion, 93.5 percent of which are in oil exports, said ALSHALL Weekly Economic Report, citing the latest data of the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK).
The total value of last year exports topped nearly KD 28.556 billion 93.5 percent of which are in oil exports.
Kuwait's non-military commodity imports in Q4 - 2011 amounted to KD 1.969 billion and the total value of such imports over the last year topped KD 6.972 billion.
The trade surplus in Q1 - 2011 stood at KD 4.610 billion before growing in Q2 - 2011 to 5.552 billion and some KD 5.667 in Q3 - 2011.
The surplus in the whole year amounted to KD 21.584 billion which shows a record high and an increase by 68.7 percent from the previous year figure of KD 12.797 billion.
Dealing with the weakly performance of Kuwait Stock Exchange, the report said the main index dipped from the previous week.
The KSE benchmark closed the trading of the last week on Thursday at 433.3 points, down by 22.1 points or 4.9 percent from the previous week.
As for the country's total population, the report said they topped 3.697 million by the end of 2011, growing by 115,000 or 3.2 percent on an annual basis.
