(MENAFN - Emirates News Agency (WAM)) Non oil foreign trade of the Emirate of Sharjah at all the land, sea and air ports, including the free zones, grew in 2011 by 32 per cent to Dhs89 billion compared to Dhs67.5 billion in 2010, according to the statistical reports released by the Department of Seaports and Customs in Sharjah.

Engineer Rashid Al Leem, Director General of the Department of Seaports and Customs said the statistical reports of 2011, show the imports surged from 24 per cent to Dhs41.3 billion in 2010 compared to Dhs51.3 billion in 2011.

He added that the exports also grew by 35 per cent in the corresponding period up by Dhs1.7 billion in 2010against Dhs2.3 billion in 2011. The re-exportation trade surged by 44 per cent in corresponding period, increasing from Dhs24.5 billion in 2010 to Dhs35.3 billion in 2011.
