(MENAFN - Jordan Times) The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research on Sunday announced the names of recipients of financial aid from the Student Support Fund.
Higher Education Minister Rowaida Maaitah said the ministry provided 27,721 university students with scholarships and loans for the 2012-2013 academic year.
The beneficiaries' names are published on the ministry's website, www.mohe.gov.jo.
Also yesterday, the minister said that the Higher Education Council is currently studying a proposal to stop accrediting the diplomas of Jordanians studying abroad unless their Tawjihi scores are similar to those that would qualify them to study the same subject at one of the Kingdom's universities.
She noted that the proposal is being studied as part of the ministry's strategy to ensure high quality university graduates.
Meanwhile, in its meeting yesterday, the council nominated Khleif Tarawneh, currently president of Balqa Applied University, to succeed Adel Tweisi as president of the University of Jordan following his resignation.
