(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) An Emirati student stood trial on Sunday in the Court of First Instance on the charge of kidnapping, with accomplices, two brothers and assaulting them with swords, knives and rods.
The 21-year-old defendant is believed to have lured the two Pakistani brothers from their place in Ajman after pretending that he and his friends needed their car in Ajman to be repaired. It was in May last year.
According to prosecution records, the kidnap was an act of revenge to make one of the brothers admit that he had stolen birds from the house of one of the kidnappers.
One of the brothers, a 26-year-old jobless, said the defendants and his accomplices claimed that they wanted them to go along with them to Ajman Industrial Area to pick up a car that needed some mechanical work.
However, during the journey, they changed direction towards Dubai on the pretext that some family members had met with a car accident.
They drove to a sandy location in Al Warqa'a near Emirates Road, where they were met by other friends.
There they assaulted the two brothers with swords, knives, a hockey stick and rods until the brothers bled. The defendants then brought them water to clean themselves up and told them not to ride in their car.
Another car came and the two brothers were dropped off in Rashidiyah. They could not remember who dropped them because they were unconscious. But they heard the defendants calling the police and reporting about men being assaulted and lying on the ground.
After being given the necessary treatment, the brothers were taken to Al Rashidiyah police station. They were able to identify the defendants during an identificationparade. The other brother, a 27-year-old, gave a similar statement.
He said that one of the accomplices hit him hard on his head with a rod asking him whether he intruded in his house and stole from it.
A police corporal said that he saw one of the brothers bleeding and in a critical condition that day.
The police knew also that the injured had a brother who was also assaulted and receiving treatment in another hospital.
The DNA of the blood stains lifted from the defendant's car matched with the brothers'.
