(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwaiti National Assembly (parliament) Speaker Jassem Al-Kharafi held talks here Wednesday with Moroccan Prime Minister Abbas El-Fassi and Speaker of the House of Representatives Abdulwahed Al-Radi on the bilateral ties between the two countries.

Speaking to KUNA after the talks, Al-Kharafi, now on a visit to the North African kingdom, said the two sides explored ways to enhance cooperation in various fields as well as a range of regional and international issues of common concern.

"The cordial, frank and positive talks proved that the two sisterly countries hold identical views on all issues and share cultural values such as profound belief in freedom, democracy, peace and justice," he affirmed.
"The close bonds derive strength from the brotherly relationship between His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and King Mohammad VI," Al-Kharafi pointed out.

"We have explored horizons for pushing the political ties to an even higher level and promoting and diversifying cooperation in all domains. We also discussed ways for optimizing the role of the joint parliamentary friendship group in promoting the economic and investment cooperation," he revealed.
"The National Assembly is keen on cementing the inter-government and inter-parliamentary cooperation with Morocco, Al-Kharafi stressed.

He hailed the initiative of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to invite the kingdoms of Morocco and Jordan to join the bloc, saying the invitation came in recognition of the status of the two countries.

On his part, El-Fassi said Morocco highly appreciates Kuwait's stance on firm support for Morocco's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
"Kuwait stated unequivocal support to the initiative of King Mohammad VI for autonomy of the Western Desert aiming to put an end to the affected dispute," he recalled.

El-Fassi praised the heavy investment by Kuwaiti government and businesspeople in projects in his country as well as the country's plan for soci-economic development.
