(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))  Syria and China signed here on Wednesday night an agreement of economic cooperation, of offering a grant to Syria of (CNY) 20 million as well as a supporting the Syrian government to join to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The signing of the agreement took place following the discussions headed by the Syrian Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Abdullah Al-Dardari, and China's Vice Premier, State Council Hui Liangyu.

Liangyu said in a joint press conference that the talks were fruitful and deep, and reflected the remarkable relations between the two countries in various fields.

He added that the successful visit of Syrian president Bashar Al-Assad to China in 2004 boosted the bilateral relations between the two countries that dates back 53 years behind, especially in fields of agriculture, industry, irrigation, management and e-Government.

He added that his country values the Syrian achievements in the locally and abroad, stressing on the county's support to Syria in spreading its sovereignty over its occupied territories.

The talks tackled cooperation between the two countries in the implication of electro-water projects, besides building the "bridge of friendship" on Euphrates river, which is finance by China.

The two sides agreed on holding a meeting for the Ministerial Syrian-Chinese joint committee in the near future
