David Beckham (left) of the Los Angeles Galaxy and Sacha Kljestan of Chivas USA go up for a header during Game 2 of the MLS Western Conference semi-finals match at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California yesterday.(MENAFN - The Peninsula) David Beckham will miss England's trip to Doha to play Brazil on Saturday following Los Angeles Galaxy's 1-0 win over Chivas USA 1-0 yesterday to win their Major League Soccer Western Conference semi-final series, 3-2 on aggregate.
The win means that Galaxy will host the Houston Dynamo, who beat Seattle Sounders FC earlier Sunday, in the Western Conference final next week ruling out Beckham's participation in the glamour friendly.
The Western Conference winner will play the winner of the Eastern Conference final between Chicago Fire and Real Salt Lake in the MLS Cup final.
American Landon Donovan scored the only goal of the game against Chivas USA on a penalty kick in the 73rd minute.
Beckham helped make the play possible with a pass to Donovan. Donovan then crossed the ball to attacker Mike Magee who was hauled down, earning a penalty kick from ref Ricardo Salazar.
Donovan took the kick and beat Chivas goalkeeper Zach Thornton.
Meanwhile, AS Roma will not release goalkeeper Doni and defender Juan for Brazil's friendlies against England and Oman in the Middle East.
Both players missed Roma's 1-1 draw at Serie A leaders Inter Milan on Sunday, Doni with a thigh knock and Juan with a calf strain.
"Doni and Juan will stay in Rome to have treatment, given that Brazil are only playing two friendlies and the regulations allow it," Roma's sporting human resources manager Gianpaolo Montali was quoted as saying by Monday's La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"We have sent an urgent fax to the Brazilian Football Federation with all the necessary documentation. If the national team doctors want to verify the condition of their players, they can come to Rome and do it."
Brazil and England, who have both qualified for the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa, meet in Doha on Saturday before Dunga's side take on Oman in Muscat three days later.
