(MENAFN Press) Amman, November 2009 – The Association of Business & Professional Women-Amman (BPW-A) is organizing the second annual Corporate Ambassadors Conference titled “Green Businesses: Sustainability as a Business Strategy”, on the 8th of November 2009, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Amman. The conference is under the patronage of His Excellency, the Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr. Amer Al Hadidi, and will include opening remarks from U.S. Ambassador R. Stephan Beecroft. His Excellency, the Minister of Environment, Eng. Khalid Irani will also be in attendance. The Conference’s sponsors include he USAID Jordan Economic Development Program (SABEQ), Business Development Center’s (Tatweer Project), the Union Bank, Silsal Ceramics, the Architectural & Engineering Business Council, the MENA Businesswomen’s Network, the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), and Vital Voice Global Partnership.

The Corporate Ambassadors Conference is part of the MENA Businesswomen’s Network program supported by the U.S. State Department’s Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI). The Conference will feature three prominent women experts in the field of sustainability from the U.S.: Kris Manos, Director of KeyCorp and Former President of Herman Miller North American Office; Nell Merlino, Founder and President of Count Me In; and Mira Meghdessian, Public Affairs Manager at the Dow Chemical Company. The three speakers will address the latest in sustainable strategies and best practices in this field, and will provide practical tools and advice on green businesses and sustainability. They will be joined by prominent Jordanian and regional experts.

The conference aims to promote sustainability as a business strategy, as well as to help the participating businesses understand what it means to be “green” by introducing the attendees to the latest developments in green project investments in Jordan. The Conference also aims to teach participants how to turn their companies into green and environmentally friendly businesses and to encourage entrepreneurs to begin profitable business projects that contribute to preserving the environment.

Commenting on the Conference, Mrs. Meisa Batayneh, President of BPW-A, said: “We are very pleased to be organizing this conference, which offers an ideal opportunity to showcase the latest developments in sustainable businesses and investment projects in accordance with the Association’s vision in encouraging business development, particularly in relation to projects that are environmentally friendly.”

A number of Jordanian experts will be participating in the Conference to present some of the Jordanian experiences in the field of sustainability and green businesses. Also participating will be several Jordanian companies and institutions pioneering the development of environmentally friendly projects.
