(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))  The Kuwaiti cabinet discussed Sunday measures to implementing the UN Anti-Corruption Treaty including the disclosure of personal financial position of government employees.

The cabinet members discussed a draft law to oblige government employees to disclose their financial positions in order to make the State of Kuwait honor its commitments listed in the UN Anti-Corruption Treaty, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah said in a statement after the cabinet meeting.

He said Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Mubarak Al-Sabah, who heads a team following the implementation of governance and anti-corruption program in collaboration with the World Bank (WB), briefed the cabinet how the UN treaty was important to boosting transparency in government administration.
The cabinet meeting was chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Sabah explained that the UN anti-corruption treaty also called for backing the participation of civil society organizations to addressing all types of corruption.

The ministers, said Sheikh Dr. Mohammad, also discussed proposals tabled by the team on how to deal with the organization of exchange of information.
The team leader also touched upon penalties resulted from disclosing of classified information.
The cabinet, then, referred the draft law related to the UN anti-corruption treaty to the ministerial finance and legal committee.

Meanwhile, the cabinet congratulated US President Barack Obama for receiving the Nobel Prize in recognition to his relentless efforts toward world peace and global cooperation through bolstering diplomacy and world peace.
The cabinet praised the exceptional bilateral relations between Kuwait and the US, hoping such relation would boost prosperity, peace and world stability.

It, however, reviewed a letter received by His Highness the Amir from the President of the Republic of Poland Lech Kaczynski which highlighted bilateral relations and an invitation to His Highness the Amir to make an official visit to Poland.

Meanwhile, the cabinet welcomed the upcoming visit by the President of the Republic of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili and his accompanying delegation.
