(MENAFN - Emirates News Agency (WAM))  A number of UAE charity and humanitarian organisations have held here a meeting to coordinate their relief supplies operations in Indonesia and Philippines in their efforts to reach out to victims of earthquake and flood which hit Indonesia and Philippines respectively last week.

According to Ali Khalfan Al-Mansouri, Director of the Charity Organisations Section at Dubai's Department of Islamic Affairs and Charity Services (DIACS), representatives from the DIACS, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Foundation, the Dubai-branch of the UAE Red Crescent Authority, the Dar al Ber Society of Dubai and the Dubai Charity Association, met to discuss how best to coordinate their efforts to provide relief assistance to the victims of the two natural disasters in the two South East Asian countries.

He said they also discussed the possibility of opening the door for donations from the general public in that campaign, coordination with the External Assistance Coordination Office at the Foreign Ministry to have information about the urgent needs of the victims and packaging the relief assistance in the name of the UAE, adding that the efforts were in accordance with the UAE's relief assistance policy worldwide and in line with the directives of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum.
