(MENAFN Press) Marking the conclusion of the evaluation process in the written assessment phase, the Association of Queen Rania Al Abdullah Award for Excellence in Education announced the names of the teachers and principals that received the highest ranks for both the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Award for Distinguished Teachers and the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Award for Distinguished Principals, qualifying for the field assessment phase and bringing them closer to winning the final award.

The results were announced during a meeting that included both the Association's coordinators and team, and was held on the 13th of September 2009 in the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Center for Information Technology.

The coordinators were informed of the names of eligible candidates during the meeting, whereby 72 teachers from 26 directorates out of 37 directorates qualified in the fourth cycle of the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Award for Distinguished Teachers, and 19 principals from 11 directorates qualified in the first cycle of the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Award for Distinguished Principals. The role of the coordinators, which includes sending, unified letters to all those who qualify congratulating them on reaching the final stage and competing, was also highlighted.

Commenting on reaching this stage, Ms. Lubna Touqan, Director of the Association of Queen Rania Al Abdullah Award for Excellence in Education, said: "We have made significant strides towards identifying distinguished teachers and principals that deserve recognition and having their success stories promoted.

We look forward to the next field assessment phase, where the Association's team will conduct field visits to classes and schools to review the experiences of both teachers and principals that have the highest ranking in the written assessment phase, and appraise their daily routines and interactions with the students and all those involved with the schools in order to gain a clearer and more comprehensive picture of their excellence qualities.

We take this opportunity to congratulate all those who have reached this stage on their accomplishment and wish them all the best in the competition and their future professional careers. We realize that there are many models of excellence amongst both teachers and principals who were unable to portray their experiences well in the written assessment phase, or have not yet competed in either award; we would like to wish them all the best in their future endeavors."

The new assessment phase for the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Award for Distinguished Teachers includes field visits from the 29th of September 2009 until the 27th of October 2009, whilst the field visits for the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Award for Distinguished Principals start on the 4th of October 2009 and end on the 20th of October 2009. The written assessment phase for the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Award for Distinguished Teachers started on the 14th of June 2009 and the written assessment phase for the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Award for Distinguished Principals started on the 5th of July.

The highest percentage of eligible candidates was from Tafileh Directorate where 9 teachers and 1 principal became eligible, whilst the second highest percentage of eligible candidates was from Al-Mazar Aljanoobi Directorate, which yielded 5 qualified teachers and 3 eligible principals.

One principal qualified for the Award for Distinguished Principals from Petra Directorate, which yielded the first eligible candidate since the commencement of the Association's activities 4 years ago. The 14 Directorates that put forth eligible candidates throughout the past 4 years include the Directorates of Amman 1, Amman 4, Al Badiya Al Wusta, Madaba, Zarqa 1, Al-Salt, Irbid 1, Irbid 2, Al-Kora, Bani Kanana, Ajloun, Al-Karak, and Aqaba.

It is worth noting that the Association of Queen Rania Al Abdullah Award for Excellence in Education has the complete list of eligible teachers and principals in addition to instructions related to the next phase on their website, www.queenraniaaward.org.
