(MENAFN Press) The Deputy Mayor of Amman, Engineer Amer Al Basheer, recently sponsored the graduation of participants from the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) courses which were held for employees from the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), the Directorate of Public Safety, and a number of Jordanian municipalities.

The Head of the GIS Department, Eng. Hasan Al Kiswani, stated that these courses stem from GAM’s commitment to cooperating with public sector institutions, exchanging expertise in the fields of joint work, and holding training courses in coordination with the Training Center.

He pointed to the importance of training in and spreading awareness about GIS, on the GAM level, and on a national level, in addition to keeping abreast with the informative developments that reflect positively on the services provided to citizens.

From another angle, participants in the courses received 48 hours of comprehensive information about GIS, aiming at providing them with advanced skills in dealing with digital technology that is on par with the technological developments the world is witnessing nowadays, with the automation of daily operations.

The Head of the Training Center at GAM, Eng. Fadwa Abu Gheida, affirmed the importance of developing the capabilities of employees at GAM and different institutions, and enhancing their professionalism. She also referred to the expansion of the Center through holding training courses for participants in various public institutions.

Concluding the graduation ceremony, Eng. Al Basheer awarded the trainers and the participants certificates of appreciation.
