(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) DUBAI - UAE-based students in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) stream have shown their mettle again, this time being the Grade X finals in which they fared better than their counterparts in India, overall.
With marginal differences, some of the toppers from the schools in the UAE surpassed their Indian counterparts with scores of above 96 per cent in the results announced on Friday.
"I am on top of the world," said Akhilesh Mohan of Abu Dhabi Indian School, the UAE topper with 96.8 per cent, according to the lists of their toppers sent to Khaleej Times by 33 of the 51 schools in the country.
"I was waiting for my results to decide if I should continue here or head to Chennai for better opportunities. All my hard work along with my parents and teachers support has paid off," said the topper.
Sandhya Sabapathy of the Indian High School (IHS), Dubai who scored 96.6 per cent said she had expected a good result.
"A top level UAE score is a surprise. Studies become a lot easier if you understand the concepts which then does not require you to work endlessly," she said explaining her formula for the second spot in the marks based honours list here.
Lokesh Narendra Lohiya and Arushi Kataria of the Delhi Private School, Sharjah (DPS) shared the third spot honours for the UAE with 96.4
per cent each.
"An observation about our toppers this year was that it was all a team and self study effort. A healthy interaction with the parents and the extra classes by our teachers resulted in such a good result," said Vandana Marwaha, Principal of DPS, Sharjah.
Ashok Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of the IHS said it is one of the best results he has seen so far. "The students have done really well this year with many receiving cent per cent marks in subjects," he said.
