(MENAFN) Airbus, the European plane maker, said that it has signed a deal with Etihad Airways to sell it 51 jets for $10 billion, the largest civil aircraft deal of the year, Gulf Daily News reported.
Airbus said it has an estimate number of jets to sell this year of 850. however, its subsidiary, EADS reported 756 jets sold.
The deal includes six A380 superjumbos and 25 A350s, designed to compete with Boeing's 787 Dreamliner and 20 single-aisle A320 aircraft.
It is worth mentioning that the deal between Airbus and Etihad has been formed in July at the Farnborough Air Show, but there were months of uncertainty that the airline might merger with Emirates amid the global financial turmoil.
