(MENAFN) A Cabinet meeting chaired by Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, revealed that the Bahrain's official rate of unemployment fell from 3.8 percent in September to 3.6 percent in October, Gulf Daily News reported.
Dr Majeed Al Alawi, Labor Minister, said that out of a 145,000 national workforce, there are 5,299 Bahrainis jobless including 828 men representing 15.6 percent, and 4,471 women making the remaining 84.4 percent of unemployment.
The National Insurance Scheme, which provides aids for the unemployed, witnessed a drop in the outgoing aids from 2,979 in September to 2,656 last month. In October, 1,306 of beneficiaries were university graduates, while 1,350 were not.
According to the ministry's figures, 5,309 Bahrainis have been recruited to date, out of which 2,489 are women. However, 919 jobseekers have been removed from the beneficiaries' lists, because they failed to meet conditions.
Last February, the number of beneficiaries reached the peak at 9,797, and dropped in July to 2,931.
