(MENAFN - Arab News) Bab Rizq Jameel, a program of Abdul Latif Jameel Community Service Programs, created 15,342 job opportunities for young men and women during the first half of 2008 throughout the Kingdom, according to a statement from the Bab Rizq Jameel. The statement added that 69 percent job opportunities were created for women.
In the "training ending with employment program," Bab Rizq Jameel created 2,513 jobs, of them 1,577 opportunities were for men and 936 opportunities for women. The program seeks out job opportunities in the labor market and then coordinates between companies and qualified candidates, after which they sign employment contracts and start training in various fields. In "direct employment program," 3,363 job opportunities were created, of which 2,389 were for men and 974 for women.
The program brings together qualified young men and women who enjoy diversified skills, and nominates them to companies and establishments looking for qualified personnel. Bab Rizq Jameel also extended support to 8,190 women throughout the Kingdom in the "productive household program," which provides interest-free loans of up to SR5,000 to women to start their own micro projects, whether industrial, commercial or service, at their houses.
In addition, 838 small projects were supported during the first six months of this year, including 415 projects for men and 423 projects for women. The loan for a small project could reach SR150,000.
The program provides support to young people who desire to start their own small projects or upgrade their existing projects.
Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel, president of ALJ Programs, said: "The programs will open more Bab Rizq Jameel branches to create more job opportunities. More than 380 young men and women are operating the Bab Rizq Jameel branches, and we are going to open 20 branches by the end of 2010."
