(MENAFN - The Peninsula) Qatar Fuel (Woqod) has successfully commissioned four new storage tanks with a capacity of 10 million liters each at its fuels storage and distribution depot in Messaimer last week.
New loading pumps and associated facilities were also commissioned in a project that cost over QR 60m.
Woqod's Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Mohammed Turki Al Sobai said the completion of this venture is further evidence of the company's intent to invest in major projects to ensure that facilities are in place on time to meet the rapidly growing demand for diesel and gasoline in Qatar.
"These tanks are part of an overall investment strategy in the expansion of Woqod's activities that include six new truck loading points at the Doha Depot to be completed by June this year and a new pipeline from the Qatar Petroleum Refinery in Mesaieed to improve delivery volumes to the depot which will be completed by this year's end," said Al Sobai.
"The second phase of the Doha Depot expansion will include a new loading gantry, additional facilities and upgrading its road tanker fleet to meet delivery requirements of our customers," said Al Sobai.
He also said the company is expected to achieve ISO 9000 accreditation for its core processes later this year.
