(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) A new oil complex housing the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and the Ministry of Oil has been officially inaugurated here Tuesday.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Minister of Oil Faisal Al-Hajji on behalf of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Addressing the ceremony, the minister hailed the new facility as an "architectural masterpiece" that absorbed the largest number of oil workers in the country.

The oil building was designed in line with modern architectural systems in the world, the minister boasted.

The new complex provides an optimum working atmosphere for hundreds of workers in the oil sector, he said, hailing governmental efforts to overhaul the oil sector in the country.

Al-Hajji stressed the impressive role by the oil sector in economic development in Kuwait.

The 57,000-meter oil facility was completed in December 2005. It was designed in the shape of two boats; one for the KPC and the other for the Ministry of Oil, with an oval crane in the center and a stairs-shaped nucleus.
The ministry part consists of 15 storeys, while that of the KPC consists of 19 floors. The building also houses meeting halls, a theater, a clinic, a parking lot and several other vital facilities.
