doha • Mastek, Mannai Trading Company (Mastek's strategic partner in Qatar) and Oracle organised a workshop called DataMasters at the Doha Marriott here. The main theme of the event was to create awareness among companies in Qatar on how to realise business value through data warehousing and business intelligence initiatives.
At the event, Mastek showcased how its solutions can make data strategise for companies in Qatar, while Oracle showcased its best-of-breed middleware, data warehousing and business intelligence tools.
Mastek, with its unique combination of experience, proven approaches and expertise in best-of-breed technologies, has helped organisations make better decisions quickly and speed up time to market. Its business intelligence and data warehousing solutions provide a single version of the truth, a consolidated view of the business, complete data integration and consolidation, consistent and accurate reports from a single repository with consistent rules and multi-dimensional analysis.
Mastek showcased its capabilities in the area of business intelligence and data warehousing through a case study. The project involved creating a repository for medical records of more than 50 million patients. The national central database has revolutionized the way patient care is delivered. Other successful data warehousing implementations include those for Transport for London, a large privately owned financial services company in US, Mitsubishi Electric and the Cuna Mutual Group.
Using a case study approach, Mastek representatives at the event, Steve Latchem, Vice-President (Solutions and Strategy), and Ravi Kadam, Head (Solutions and Strategy), explained how companies can achieve greater business value through data warehousing and business intelligence. They explained how organisations can move towards a 'single version of the truth' across all business entities across the enterprise.
"Many business intelligence and data warehousing initiatives fail to deliver real business value because they are being driven by IT alone. Such initiatives need to be driven from the top management with support from IT" said Ravi Kadam, Head-Solutions and Strategy, Mastek.
Oracle's Sudha Dhar gave greater insights into business intelligence and data warehousing and how the Oracle product suite can help companies achieve their vision. Representatives from some of the biggest companies in Qatar attended the meet, including those from Qatar National Bank, Doha Securities Market, the Gulf Organisation of Industrial Consulting (Goic), Qatar Data Centre and Qatar Chemicals Company. They shared their problems regarding collating information and how they needed an integrated view to make better decisions.
