With Tekla and Constructive Technologies now combining expertise, engineers can digitally export 3D models of concrete structures into the Constructive SteelPac E-Rebar Supply Chain enabling detailers, contractors and cut and bend factories to communicate just in time rebar schedule data. This compatibility will deliver significant savings in Labor and material.

The regional construction industry, which relies on the SteelPac Data Interchange (SDI) format, to transfer steel reinforcement bar bending schedules, can now use the new integration tool in Tekla Structures to automate the entire lifecycle.

Using the new tool in Tekla Structures, Service Providers and General Contractors can now extract the SDI file directly from the fully detailed data rich 3D model in Tekla Structures to industry standard rebar management tools such as SteelPac RCS, SITE & ERP for better management of rebar on site and in the factory minimizing waste.

"We are delighted to welcome Tekla to the SteelPac Community and feel confident that the compatibility between Tekla and Constructive software will deliver significant benefits for our customers, helping to reduce lead times, and remove the significant amount of errors that result in an increase in waste that exists in a traditional Rebar Process due to the recapturing of data across the supply chain", commented Andrew Woolnough, CEO of Constructive Technologies Group

By using Tekla Structures software, engineering offices, detailers, and contractors can create and share building information in an 'as-built' 3D model, regardless of material. Tekla Structures integrates reinforcement information with building materials and follows the entire project from design through to construction.

Using Tekla structures makes it easy to combine and understand concrete 3D models to interpret the design intent, check for clashes, and comment and mark changes.

"Understanding BIM as a centralized process rather than 'just a model' requires cooperation and goodwill between the regional construction disciplines. By collaborating with Constructive Technologies we want to give the industry unique 3D software solutions that will make the industry profitable. Working together, we can now enable detailing reinforced/cast-in-Situ concrete with high accuracy without losing in modeling speed or getting in trouble with large file size," commented Reza Mashayekhi, Technical Manager, Tekla ME

The BIM-based way of working supports modern requirements of sustainability and green building. For example, by optimizing rebar fabrication, site management and enabling a paperless process has substantial benefits for supporting this way of working.

Accurate, model-based communication enables better constructability through finding, reacting to and correcting possible design errors well ahead of on-site construction. This motivates people working in engineering and construction to centralize their data and to make requests for information accurately and efficiently through one shared application that presents the combined model of a whole construction project from every possible angle.
