EnVerv announced today general availability of its single chip EV8000 Power-Line Communication (PLC) modem System on Chip (SoC) targeted at data communication applications at the core of utility Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) networks enabling reliable and extended coverage for mission critical applications such as Smart Meters, Data Concentrators, Home Energy Management Systems (HEMS), In-Home Display (IHD), etc.
"We are pleased to announce production availability of our EV8000 PLC modem to our worldwide customers," said Shahin Hedayat, Chairman and CEO of EnVerv, adding, "Our standards compliant modem chip allows us to further expand EnVerv's global footprint with customers deploying G3-PLC, PRIME and 4GPLC„ technologies. Furthermore, our state of the art algorithms set a new benchmark for connectivity performance in the industry."
With its high performance soft-modem architecture, EV8000 comprises the following features:
Standards compliant (G3-PLC, PRIME, ITU G.9955, IEEE1901.2)
Advanced high-performance 4GPLC„
Integrated Line Driver, Physical Layer (PHY), MAC Layer and Convergence Layers (6LoWPAN and IEC 4-32)
9KHz-500KHz programmable operation frequency band compliant to FCC, CENELEC and ARIB mask requirements
Internal host processor for customer applications with dedicated Flash and RAM memory
"The soft-modem architecture of EV8000 allows for performance and flexibility in adapting to new requirements and interoperating with existing implementations," said Afshin Shaybani, VP of Advanced Technology of EnVerv, adding, "We have achieved interoperability with other PLC vendors and will officially certify the EV8000 at various standard bodies and alliances as their Interoperability Testing (IOT) procedures are published. Further, over the past year we successfully demonstrated unparalleled performance in connectivity as part of the field tests and trials with our strategic partners and early customers globally."
