In a sign of continued economic and environmental partnership, UAE-based Masdar executives are set to speak at Singapore's annual Asia Future Energy Summit, taking place in later this month.

The event is part of the larger Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW), which will take place from 22 “ 25 October at the country's largest exhibition and meeting venue, The Sands Expo and Convention Centre at the iconic Marina Bay Sands development, recently-voted Asia's Best MICE hotel.

"Singapore is one of the region's leading knowledge hubs that is home to a comprehensive mix of knowledge-driven industries," said Louise Chua, Project Director at Reed Expo. "It is with such positioning that sets up the inaugural launch of the Asia Future Energy Forum (AFEF) & Exhibition 2012, the platform for international exhibitors to meet visitors around Southeast Asia to network, exchange knowledge and uncover business opportunities."

Experts from the Emirates will support and participate in the Asia Future Energy Forum and Exhibition, one of seven conferences that will take place over the four-day platform for global energy professionals and policymakers to discuss and share best practices and solutions within the global energy space.

Masdar energy representatives scheduled to participate in the forum will include Dr. Nawal Al-Hosany, Director of Sustainability; Steve Griffiths, Director of Institute Initiativs and Professor of Practice, and Sgouris Sgouridis, Associate Professor of Engineering Systems and Management, from Masdar Institute of Science and Technology

"No single country has all the answers to tackle energy and climate change challenges," said a spokesperson from Energy Market Authority, Singapore. "Singapore is doing its part to promote such exchanges and collaborations with the Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW), which brings together world-leading conferences, exhibitions, workshops and networking events in one week, in one location."

In support of the Singapore's MICE industry growth, the Marina Bay Sands recently launched its Showtime Meeting Package, offering UAE business delegates visiting the city state all-inclusive hotel and meeting packages along with incentives sure to create memorable corporate events.

The Sands Expo and Convention Center has a capacity for 45,000 delegates, 2,000 exhibition booths, and accommodates 250 meeting rooms and Southeast Asia's largest ballroom, it can also accommodate up to 6,000 guests banquet-style, 7,000 for a staged performance or 11,000 theater style.

As a MICE destination within the region, Singapore provides event organisers and delegates with a vast spectrum of business and leisure offerings from which they can select to suit their specific needs. These include quality accommodation and dining options, shopping, and signature attractions within an accessible and user friendly city. With the recently opened Gardens by the Bay, the Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore and upcoming developments like the world's first River Safari, visitors can be assured of a meaningful and enriching experience during their stay.

In 2011, Singapore's MICE industry saw a 46 percent year-on-year growth in the number of key conventions, conferences and tradeshows, which conveyed increased attendance and participation.

Singapore has also maintained its position as the only Asian city in the Top Five Convention Cities in the World, alongside Vienna, Barcelona, Paris and Berlin, since 2006.
