Art Basel Miami has announced the lineup for their 2012 show, which is being held in December later this year. The Art Basel Miami Beach is going to feature 257 leading international galleries and it will include a working range of the modern era.
So far, the management is receiving a great number of applications from the international art galleries to participate in the exhibition. The applications in the very start of the schedule have been increased from those of 211 so far and more applications are expected in the days to come.
According to the management of Art Basel Miami, 680 art galleries have submitted their applications to compete in the exhibition which is going to be held at Miami Beach. The exhibition will begin on December 6th and will continue until the 9th of the same month.
However, the final names of the competing art galleries have been announced by the Art Basel body that include leading names of art galleries from across the world. The names of competing art galleries read as: 99 from the United States; 34 from Germany; 18 from France; 19 from Great Britain; 14 from Brazil; 11 from Italy; 10 from Switzerland; 9 each from Spain; 4 each from Austria, Belgium and Mexico; 3 each from Argentina and China; 2 each from Canada, Colombia, Denmark, Japan, Portugal, Turkey and South Africa; 1 each from Greece, Ireland, Israel, India, Iceland, Korea, Norway, Peru, Russia, Sweden and Uruguay.
Organizers told the media that 17 new names have been included in the exhibitors list, higher than that of last year's show. However, the local city could make a good deal of impact as far as the competing companies are concerned. Only one art gallery of Miami will be participating in the big show.
Despite the lack of participation of local galleries, Miami based artists have still declared the upcoming show a booster for galleries in the city.
