(MENAFN Press) Khor Fakkan

The 22-day Ramadan-Eid Festival & Back 2 School show at Expo Khor Fakkan has opened up an exclusive opportunity for residents of the East Coast to stock up for observing Ramadan and celebrating Eid, besides helping them prepare for school reopening.

A first of its kind show in the area, the event was ianugurated on July 29 (Sunday) and will continue until August 19.

It was opened by H.E. Sheikh Saeed Bin Saqr Al Qassimi, Deputy Chairman of Sharjah Ruler's Office in Khor Fakkan, in the presence of Mr Ahmed Mohammed Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), Mr Saeed Obaid Al Jarwan, Second Vice-Chairman of SCCI, Mr Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, Director-General of Expo Centre Sharjah, other dignitaries and guests.

The event is part of the Sharjah Ramadan Festival and is supported by SCCI and Expo Centre Sharjah, which is hosting the 26th Ramadan & Eid Fair at its premises until August 19.

"The East Coast is an untapped market for retailers. The Ramadan-Eid Festival & Back 2 School will open for them a plethora of opportunities to sell directly to thousands of shoppers, assess the requirements of the market, enhance their brand image and launch products. Khor Fakkan being a popular tourist destination, retailers can also look forward to catering to the needs of tourists," said Mr Ahmed Mohammed Al Midfa.

The Khor Fakkan event, which is sponsored by National Paints, features nearly 80 exhibitors, bringing a refreshing change to Ramadan and Eid shopping for residents from Fujairah, Dibba, Masafi, Dhaid and Oman.

"Through the Ramadan-Eid Festival & Back 2 School show we are offering the small and medium enterprises of the Emirate and the country a unique platform to sell their products and services. SMEs are the financial backbone of the country and SCCI aims at enhancing the role they play in the local economy," said Mr Saeed Obaid Al Jarwan.

The show is open from 8.30 pm until 1.30am. In the weekends, it will open until 2 am and during Eid holidays from 5pm to 11pm.

"The Ramadan-Eid Festival & Back 2 School show will add more value to the Sharjah Ramadan Festival and at the same time take modern retailing concepts to the East Coast. Ramadan is the time when consumer demand reaches its peak and the show will be a one-stop shop for all the Ramadan, Eid and back-to-school needs of the residents," said Mr Saif Mohammed Al Midfa.

The display covers products including hand-made creations, household items, traditional dress and abayas, perfumes and cosmetics, oud, make-up and herbal products, gold and silver jewellery, books and stationery, back 2 school items, food & beverages, fabrics and curtains, toys, sports equipment, electronics & mobiles and leather products, among others.

At Expo Centre Sharjah, the 26th Ramadan & Eid Fair got under way on July 26 and will continue until August 19. It is offering residents great deals on a wide variety of consumer goods from China, India, Pakistan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Syria, Turkey, and the UAE.

Other attractions include free medical check-up, heritage village, multi-cuisine food court, cookery demonstrations by five-star hotels during weekends, daily games & workshops and entertainment activities on Eid days.
