(MENAFN Press) The Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) is pleased to announce the upcoming awareness programmes and the Facilitating the Implementation of IFSB Standards (FIS) Workshops that will held throughout the third and fourth quarters of 2012.
The list of confirmed programmes is as follows:
1) BNM-IFSB Financial Inclusion Advisers Programme and Seminar on Islamic Microfinance
Bank Negara Malaysia and the IFSB are jointly organising a Financial Inclusion Advisers Programme and a Seminar on Islamic Microfinance, to be held from 27 to 30 August 2012 at Sasana Kijang, Bank Negara Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur.
This programme aims to provide participants an overview of the different types of policies and interventions that collectively help shape a more inclusive financial sector.
2) Seminar on the Role of Islamic Finance in the Development of Africa
The IFSB will organise its first Seminar on the Islamic financial services industry that specifically caters for African nations.
The Seminar aims to discuss the potential outlook for Islamic financial services in the development of Africa, the building blocks of Islamic financial services, some major instruments of Islamic financial services and products, and present opportunities and future challenges for regional cooperation in developing the soundness and stability of the Islamic financial services industry in Africa.
The Seminar, which will be held on 6 to 7 September 2012 in Mauritius will be preceded by an Introductory Workshop on Islamic Finance and the IFSB Standards on 5 September and the Bank of Mauritius will be the host for both the Seminar and Workshop.
3) The IFSB-IOSCO Roundtable on Disclosure Requirements for Islamic Capital Market Products
The IFSB will jointly organise the Roundtable with the International Organisation of Securities Commission (IOSCO) and hosted by the Securities Commission of Malaysia. This Roundtable will study and identify the minimum disclosure requirements for Islamic capital market products. This Roundtable will be held on 18 September 2012 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
4) Seminar on Islamic Finance: Future Prospects
The Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) together with The World Bank and the Central Bank of Egypt are organising the above Seminar on 13-14 November 2012, in Cairo, Egypt. The Seminar aims to give a general overview of the potential and prospects of Islamic finance in light of the current developments in the financial markets today, and aims to benefit especially organisations in countries who wish to develop their Islamic financial services industry, be it Islamic banking, Islamic capital market or Islamic insurance.
Two IFSB-FIS Workshops will be held in November 2012, namely:
5) IFSB-FIS Workshops on Islamic Capital Markets
It will be held on 19 to 21 November 2012 and will be hosted by the Securities and Commodities Authority of United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Dubai, UAE.
6) IFSB-FIS Workshops for Regulatory and Supervisory Authorities, on IFSB-12 Liquidity Risk Management and IFSB-13 Stress Testing Standards
The Workshops will focus on Risk Management issues for Institutions offering Islamic Financial Services (IIFS), with particular attention given to Liquidity Risk Management and Stress Testing arrangements for IIFS and will be held from 26 to 30 November 2012 at Sasana Kijang, Kuala Lumpur, hosted by Bank Negara Malaysia.
