Kuwait- Amoto, Farinas clinch Level 1 crown 

(MENAFN - Arab Times) Richard Amoto and Nestor Farinas were at their best to win the championship finals of the second senior-most category of the Filipino Badminton Club in Kuwait (FILBACK) Chairman's Cup 2012 , which was held to pay tribute to FILBACK Founding Chairman Caloy Abesamis " who left Kuwait for good recently " at the Nasser Sports Complex, Friday.

As the fate of the senior-most category " O Level " had already been decided the previous week with Ilaya Raja and Rasheed emerging champions, Amoto and Farinas were the center of attention when they took the crown in Level 1 on the last day of the tournament.

While Amoto and Farinas were the best in Level 1, Ronald Brizuela and Sandy Payade took the top honors in Level 2, Albert Naguit and Mark Delen finished champions in Level 3, Maricel Ilagan and Grace Ann Daraug were the champions in Level 4 " Higher and Tin-Tin Amador and Mark Meneses emerged on top in Level 4 " Lower.

In the Group event,Yellow emerged champions when they defeated the Blue squad to take the crown.

Level 1

The tandem of Richard Amoto and Nestor Farinas bagged the Level 1 crown when they put in a tremendous effort to overcome Roy Satorre and Joni Gratil in the finals in two sets 21-19, 21-18. The match was closer than the score indicates as the losers fought their hearts out before they lost to the ultimate champions.

In the semifinals, Richard and Nestor edged Roy and Joni in a seesaw battle 21-19, 18-21, 21-16 while Roy and Joni climbed the ladder when they thumped Edison dela Cruz and Mark Arroyo 21-18, 21-19. Both the matches saw a close fight with neither pair giving up until the end.

Earlier in the knockout games, Edison and Mark outlasted Donald and Roger 21-20, 20-21, 21-12 while Roy and Joni edged Denis and Ray 21-13, 19-21, 21-19, Jess and Nato overwhelmed Emil and Rafiq 21-16, 21-15 and Richard and Nestor brushed aside Edison and Mark 21-19, 21-15.

Meanwhile, Richard and Nestor beat Jess and Nato 17-21, 21-15, 21-17 while Denis and Ray edged Donald and Roger 21-11, 18-21, 21-18, Edison and Mark outlasted Emil and Rafiq 19-21, 21-12, 21-18, Jess and Nato edged Denis and Ray 21-18, 14-21, 21-18 and Edison with Mark beat Jess and Nato 13-21, 21-14, 21-18.

Level 2

In Level 2, Ronald Brizuela and Sandy Payade collected the highest honor when they edged Chan Basha Sheik and Srinivas 21-11, 6-21, 21-19.
The game seemed easy when Brizuela and Payade took the first set by giving away only 9 points but they were thrashed in the second set before they fought hard to take the third set and with it the crown.

The semifinals saw Ronald and Sandy overcome Chan and Srinivas 21-14, 21-20 while Chan and Srinivas tamed Noel Zagada and Sripad 21-18, 21-18.
Earlier that day, Chan and Srinivas thrashed Arnold and Romeo 21-8, 21-9 while Noel and Sripad thumped Brilly and John 21-18, 21-14, Andrew and Rommel outclassed Leo and Chito 21-14, 21-19, Sajid and Rey tamed Sid and Danny 21-18, 21-15, and Ronald and Sandy overcame Joel and Garry 21-8, 21-16.

Meanwhile, Sid and Danny brushed aside Brilly and John 21-13, 21-15, Andrei and Chato beat Billy and Joker 21-14, 21-13, Sid and Danny outlasted Arnold and Romeo 19-21, 21-15, 21-12, Andrei and Chato edged Sajid and Rey 21-20, 19-21, 21-15, and Andrew and Rommel beat Noel and Sripad 21-19, 12-21, 21-15.

In the other matches, Billy and Joker outlasted Leo and Chito 21-15, 16-21, 21-20, Noel and Sripad tamed Joel and Garry 21-14, 21-18, Chan and Srinivas thrashed Andrei and Chato 21-10, 21-7, Ronald and Sandy edged Andrew and Rommel 21-15, 11-21, 21-12, Sajid and Rey overcame Sid and Danny 21-20, 21-19, Noel and Sripad brushed aside Billy and Joker 21-18, 21-19, Sajid and Rey tamed Andrei and Chato 21-19, 21-16, Noel and Sripad outlasted Andrew and Rommel 20-21, 21-10, 21-18 and the tandem of Noel and Sripad beat Sajid and Rey 15-21, 21-16, 21-16.

Level 3

The pair of Albert Naguit and Mark Delen ran away with the title in Level 3 when they overcame Arnel Miguel and Abby Sayoto in a close two-set match 21-15, 21-20.

Naguit and Delen were really tested in the second set as their opponents refused to give away and the match was stretched to the last point before the championship was decided.

Earlier, in the semifinals, Albert and Mark edged Sherwin Perez and Ely Repas (who played as Joker) 20-21, 21-17, 21-17 while Arnel and Abby overwhelmed Sherwin Perez and Joker 21-16, 21-14.

The top 6 double eliminations saw Albert and Mark thump Butch and Susan 21-18, 21-15 before they tamed Arnel and Abby 21-17, 21-20. Sherwin and Ely overcame Carl and Jhun 21-20, 21-20 and outlasted Joel and Sally 18-21, 21-19, 21-20. In the other games, Arnel and Abby hammered Carl and Jhun 21-18, 21-17 before they edged Joel and Sally 12-21, 21-19, 21-17. In the end the tandem of Joel and Sally thumped Butch and Susan 21-12, 21-18.
Earlier in the knock out games, Josette and Beth outlasted Juvy and Val 18-21, 21-19, 21-11 while G Boy and Roselyn overpowered Carlito and Liza 21-14, 21-16, Carlito and Lynn brushed aside Fay and Gregg 21-17, 21-15, Mary Grace and Jan Michael thumped Ayie and Ivan 21-15, 21-16, Joel and Sally tamed Mary Grace and Jan Michael 21-16, 21-14, Albert and Mark overcame Carlito and Lynn 21-19, 21-20, Butch and Susan outlasted G Boy and Roselyn 21-20, 14-21, 21-19 and the pair of Arnel and Abby beat Josette and Beth 21-15, 21-13.

Two other pairs scored 2 wins each " Sherwin and Ely outclassed Bevs and Martin 21-9, 21-19 before they edged Sunny and Jessa 17-21, 21-16, 21-15 while Carl and Jhun edged Christian and Ely 21-20, 10-21, 21-15 and then hammered Abdul Latif and Amor 21-9, 21-11.

Level 4"Higher

The girl power of Maricel Ilagan and Grace Ann Daraug fought for every point to edge Elibeth Mendoza and Shelou Delen 12-21, 21-20, 21-20 to win the title in a very closely-fought match, especially the last two sets.
Earlier, in the semifinals, Elibeth and Shelou outlasted Maricel and Grace Ann 21-20, 16-21, 21-12 and Maricel with Grace Ann bounced back and outlasted Ruth Domingo and Melanie Medina 21-13, 14-21, 21-19.
Earlier that day, Vanessa and Roda edged Ruth and Melanie 19-21, 21-9, 21-19 before they thumped Haroun and Jennica 21-12, 21-16 in the second match.

In another match, Maricel and Grace Ann overcame Marilyn and Jeves 21-20, 21-12 easily while they had a tough game before they outlasted Vanessa and Roda 18-21, 21-8, 21-18.

Some other pairs did not go home empty handed as Ninette and Sherlyn overwhelmed Haroun and Jennica 21-13, 21-15 while Haroun and Jennica tamed Leonor and Michelle 21-15, 21-18.

Elibeth and Shelou were also among the winners when they beat Leonor and Michelle 21-11, 12-21, 21-19 before they brushed aside Ninette and Sherlyn 21-20, 21-18.

Ruth and Melanie won three matches when they first overwhelmed Marilyn and Jeves 21-11, 21-17 before they thrashed Ninette and Sherlyn 21-12, 21-11 and in the end outlasted Vanessa and Roda 9-21, 21-19, 21-10.

Level 4-Lower

The pair of Tin-Tin Amador and Mark Meneses bagged the championship crown in this category when they thumped Whildin Canzana and Florieviee Satorre 21-19, 21-17.

Earlier, in the semifinals, Tin-Tin and Mark edged Vhennie Ilejay and Dang Ladia 19-21, 21-18, 21-18 and Den-Den with Florieviee brushed aside Vhennie and Dang 21-17, 21-19.

Earlier that day, Joan and Ivan outclassed Marieta and Joker 21-7, 21-13 while Vhennie and Dang hammered Vivian and Joselle 21-14, 21-9, Tin-Tin and Mark overwhelmed Joan and Ivan 21-18, 21-9, Vhennie and Dang brushed aside Den-Den and Florieviee 21-16, 21-13, Joan and Ivan beat Marieta and Joker 21-10, 21-8, Den-Den and Flori overcame Vivian and Joselle 21-10, 21-9 and the pair of Den-Den and Flori edged Joan and Ivan 20-21, 21-11, 21-17.

Blue vs Yellow

Yellow collected the crown in the group match when they almost scored a total victory against the Blue team when Edison and Mark won by default against Donald and Roger while Roy and Joni thumped Emil and Rafiq 21-15, 21-11, Andrei and Chato won by default against Noel and Sripad, Billy and Hassan won by default against Brilly and John, Leo and Chito outlasted Joel and Garry 21-15, 13-21, 21-14, Joel and Sally won by default against Arnel and Abby, Sunny and Jessa overcame Mary Grace and Jan Michael 21-20, 21-19 and G Boy and Roselyn tamed Juvy and Val 21-14, 21-12.
Blue team did not go home empty handed when Butch and Susan edged Fay and Gregg 21-16, 19-21, 21-14 to win their only match of the clash.
