(MENAFN - Qatar News Agency) Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Energy and Mines Vladimir Makukha said a working group was formed with the Qatari side to discuss future cooperation in the energy sector between the two countries, including the possibility of Qatar's export of liquefied natural gas to Ukraine.
In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), he gave today on the sidelines of a joint meeting held by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Qatar between Qatari businessmen and an Ukrainian business delegation currently visiting Doha, the Ukrainian Deputy Energy Minister said the working group, which is scheduled to meet late this month in Ukraine, will also discuss matters related to the possibility of Qatari companies' participation in hydrocarbon projects in Ukraine as well as the possible participation of Qatari companies in the construction of a 860 million euros unit to set up a station to receive liquefied natural gas in the Black Sea in Ukraine with his country's government contributing about 25 percent of the project.
The Ukrainian official said the formation of the group comes as a product of a memorandum of understanding signed by his ministry yesterday with the Qatari Ministry of Energy and Industry.
He also expressed his belief that there is a good possibility for the participation of Qatar in the project set up his station for receiving liquefied natural gas in Ukraine, adding that his country conducted a feasibility study for the project prior to its start by a specialized company.
