(MENAFN - Arab Times) The proposed distribution of free food supplies to citizens until August 2014 is still under study, reports Al-Rai daily quoting Minister of Commerce and Industry Anas Al-Saleh.
Al-Saleh revealed the proposal is aimed at protecting citizens from the soaring prices of commodities, especially now that the holy month of Ramadan is fast approaching. He pointed out he will not disregard any recommendation but a thorough study must be carried out prior to implementation.
The minister also unveiled plans to establish centers affiliated to the ministry in Jahra, Fahaheel and Farwaniya but there should be coordination with its finance counterpart to obtain a budget for this project, which will ease the burden of the ministry.
Efforts are ongoing to persuade the Board Chairperson of Livestock Trading and Transport Company Bader Al-Jarallah against leaving his job before the end of his tenure. Al-Jarallah has already tendered his resignation to the Minister of Finance Mustafa Al-Shamali, reports Al-Seyassah daily. In a statement, the company declared need for Al-Jarallah's wealth of experience, especially in this critical period.
It indicated Al-Jarallah wa able to rescue the company while it was on the verge of collapse as he took over in 2004. It explained that he raised the value of the company's investment from 13 million dinars to 22 million dinars to overcome the 2008 economic downturn.
